Family-Friendly Pilgrimage: Unveiling Shirdi’s Magic with Your Little Ones

Take your little pilgrims on a spiritual quest, making the Shirdi pilgrimage go from sombre to springing with life. Shirdi, nestled conveniently in Maharashtra’s rolling hills draws you to the holy feet of Sai Baba. It tells tales of faith and enchants little ones with its unique flavour. Allow me to show us the way–we can make an itinerary that keeps everyone’s spirits up, heart contented and stomach happy.

    Planning Your Shirdi Sojourn:

    Reaching Shirdi:

Mumbai to Shirdi Innova Cab: A comfortable, spacious Innova cab is much better than crowded trains. The trip is also comfortable, with legroom, entertainment options and air-conditioning. Imagine crooning carpool karaoke with the kids, and catching a glimpse of windmills on the horizon. What if they could tell stories about Sai Baba’s miracles? Book your Innova cab online

Train: A classic Indian experience! A few tasty munchies, some board games and a night of rhythmic clatter for the kids. The train ride gives you a glimpse of rural India, and what better place to enjoy chai and pakoras from the local vendors?

    Accommodation:

Sai Peace Resort: Think endless lawns, a gorgeous pool and a special play area just for kids. Just picture it and you’ve got Sai Peace Resort! There’s an on-site restaurant for little palates, and ample space to rest after a day of darshan.

Sai Holiday Resort: With its water park, adventure activities and pet place for all to enjoy. Kids can play on the slides, ride down through trees in a zipline tandem and make animal friends. Parents are free to sit back by the pool.

    Day 1: Blessings and Beyond:

Morning: First, go to the venerable Sai Baba Samadhi Mandir. The peaceful atmosphere and colourful dhol beats will entice even the smallest of pilgrims. Tell your children to be appropriately modestly dressed and wear a head covering. Don’t forget temple etiquette!

Afternoon: Go visit Dwarkamai, Sai Baba’s simple dwelling. Have kids peek into the meagre kitchen and courtyard, telling stories of this holy person’s simple life. Across from this period of turbulence, Lendi Garden provides a restful retreat. It’s an ideal place for picnic lunches and playtime under the trees.

Evening: Take in the captivating Kakad Aarti, a moving ceremony with chants and flickering lamplight. Tell the kids about how important this rite is, arousing their interest in faith and tradition. Come the evening, and have a tasty dose of Maharashtrian Fare at Sai Sagar. Tuck into some misal pav and vada pav for an extra special treat.

    Day 2: Fun and Frolic:

Morning: Take the kids to Sai Heritage Village. This interactive museum makes history come alive with life-size dioramas of scenes from Sai Baba’s life. Children can dress as villagers, learn about local handicrafts and even join in a miniature palanquin procession.

Afternoon: Take a dip at Shirdi Water Park! Slide, float in the lazy river and splash around in the wave pool. Pack swimsuits, towels and sunscreen for a day of water festivities. Of course, adult supervision is necessary at all times.

Evening: Take a stroll through the lively market outside of the temple. And for the kids, let them pick colourful trinkets and enjoy sweet pedas taking it all in. At dusk join us for a showing of Shirdi Sai Baba-an ideal conclusion to an enjoyable day.

Bonus Tips for a Heavenly Family Trip:

    • Pack only lightweight, breathable clothes and comfortable shoes.
    • Be sure to bring along a first-aid kit and necessary medicines for children.
    • Saving snacks and water bottles for eating on the road.
    • Inform kids about temple etiquette and dress code beforehand.
    • Children should be encouraged to ask questions and share their experiences.
    • With photos and videos, capture precious moments.
    • Most importantly, have fun and make memories with your little palavers!

    Returning Home:

Shirdi to Mumbai Taxi Hire: Be sure to book your Mumbai-Shirdi taxi in advance for ease and comfort on the way back. Recline, muse about the trip and talk of Sai Baba’s blessings.

    Remember, a Shirdi trip

Family-Friendly Travel: Mumbai to Shirdi with Kids

But a Shirdi trip with the kids isn’t just for worship. It is meant to be an adventure we can all share. Thus, let’s add a little extra magic to your schedule!

Day 3: Beyond the Temple walls:

Morning: Take a nature walk to Upasani Maharaj’s Samadhi. A scenic climb through hills provides fabulous views and an escape from temple crowds. Tell your children about another great saint, Upasani Maharaja in Shirdi who also found peace.

Afternoon: Go shopping at the Nimbkarwadi Industries outlet. In this emporium, there are many impressive silk sarees and hand-woven blankets, as well as a few lovely sandalwood idols. All make excellent souvenirs to bring back home for yourself or friends and relatives!

Evening: See the palkhi (palanquin) procession of Sai Baba’s idol weaving through the temple complex. The kids can enjoy all the colourful decorations, rhythmic chants and vibrant devotion. After dinner at a rooftop restaurant which serves up appetizing meals, enjoy the vast panorama of Shirdi while stargazing.

    Day 4: Farewell, Sai Baba:

Morning: Finally, say your last prayers at the Samadhi Mandir and enjoy its peace. Thank Sai Baba quietly for his blessings in life. A lovely way to leave a little of your heart in Shirdi is this, encourage kids to write down what they wish for and tie it onto the wishing tree.

Afternoon: Back to Mumbai, but first a visit to the Shani Shingnapur temple. Here, watch the peculiar custom of believers walking barefoot over consecrated black stone–a truly thrilling experience for kids and adults alike.

Evening: Sit down in your cosy Innova taxi for the homeward ride. Go on telling stories, singing songs and recalling Shirdi’s magical moments. So as you approach Mumbai, carry not only souvenirs and photos but the precious gift of common faith, family reunion and memories that will last a lifetime.

    Beyond the Itinerary:

Please note: this is a loose framework. Feel free to adjust it according to your family’s interests and preferences. Go to local markets, and find hidden treasures. Most of all: expect the unexpected! Here are some additional ideas:

    • In the evening, join a devotional bhajan session.
    • Learning some basic Marathi phrases can help you get closer to the natives.
    • Volunteer for a community service project sponsored by the Sai Sansthan.
    • Taste some local flavours at sample street food stalls.
    • For a unique desert experience, go on a camel ride.

    Making Memories, Not Miles:

When travelling with children, you don’t just have to reach your destination; it is the process that counts. So, kick back and enjoy. Savour life’s little pleasures; let the magic of Shirdi unfold before your very eyes. Catch little glimpses of your pilgrims’ wonder, laughter and devotion–these are the treasures that you will take home with you.

    A Final Note:

On this journey with your family, don’t forget that miracles occur in Shirdi not only for saints but also for ordinary people like us. Open your hearts, receive the goodness bestowed on you and make memories that will always connect all members of your family in love through Sai Baba’s grace.

Have a happy and unforgettable Shirdi trip with the little ones!

Bonus Tip: Don’t forget to tell us about your family Shirdi adventures in the comments below. Your ideas and experiences may well serve as a beacon for another family who is thinking of embarking on their magical journey!
