The Land Down Under is not just a country, it is also a continent, a few Europe’s could be lost in the northern part of Australia and that’s no joke! Most tourists focus on NSW, with Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, while there is Perth in WA; yet that is a tiny swathe of the nation and if you want to see and experience the great Aussie Outback, renting a motorhome is the only way to go.
Experience true freedom and independence
With enough water for 30 days and a fully equipped solar energy system and extra fuel tanks, you can literally leave civilisation behind for a week and never see another person for days. State of the art motorhomes have caravan hot water systems so you won’t miss out on that early morning shower, while you also have a web connection built into the vehicle. You won’t need to worry about getting lost, the rental company installs GPS tracking on all its vehicles.
Planning your route
Let the RV rental company help with this; they have tons of experience planning holidays for tourists and there are many options, with tropical zones where swimming is not recommended! Desert conditions are never far away; make sure you take ample water (and fuel) and don’t deviate from the schedule. You could spend a week or two in Hunter Valley where there are many campsites; this kind of holiday is very affordable as you have no real accommodation costs; your vehicle is your accommodation – luxury and comfort is the name of the game.
International Driving Permit
A foreigner should have an IDP when driving in Australia, which you can arrange in your home country; we don’t recommend falling foul of driving rules and regulations, penalties can be harsh. Of course, full insurance is included in the package, with vehicle recovery and replacement, which we hope you never need! The web can help acquaint you with Aussie driving and you should be good to go! Take it easy the first day of driving a motorhome, get familiar with the handling; it isn’t like driving a car, especially when turning and reversing. Click here for tips on tropical fishing.
Vehicle orientation
No one would expect (or allow) you to jump into a motorhome and drive away; the staff would run through all aspects of the vehicle, demonstrating how to carry out operations; this is a time to get your questions answered. There are several electrical systems and you manage them from a central interface.
Once you have been shown the vehicle and have your documentation, it’s time to fuel up and head out! Feed your route into the onboard GPS system and you can’t get lost; the system is reprogrammable, so you can change your plans. This will be a holiday like no other and the more research you do now, the richer the experience will be.
